Foodtopia

Eating in Asheville was such a treat for us. Many restaurants here serve fresh, farm to table food made from scratch. Menus here have old Southern favorites with an uptown twist. Healthy and so good.

I was having crab withdrawals from Baltimore so ordered some for breakfast ;D.

Mark ordered the sweet potato pancakes with spiced pecans and peach butter. Rachel Ray ate this on her travel show.

Another must stop by spot. Great local beer and live music. We had the guinness infused burger and Irish stew.

Mark was so impressed he bought a t-shirt.

I have never had so much grits before lol! Shrimp and grits was delish but grit cakes was even better!

The Early Girl Benny- Grit cakes topped with tomato, spinach, poached eggs, tomato gravy, avocado and country ham. Breakfast of champions.

Every morning we had fresh biscuits for breakfast with fresh blackberry jam. So yummy we bought some back with us.

I was craving some NY style pizza one night (after we already had dinner!). I know we were in NC and not NY but boy the pizza here was quite tasty.

The Obamas ate here just 3 months ago.

Blueberry chipotle glazed baby back ribs, collard greens, and corn pudding. The best BBQ ever!

Mark ordered the beef brisket. The white stuff is cheesy grits.

This was my first time having a fried green tomato sandwich. Absolutely delicious. Sunny Point Cafe was my favorite brunch spot.

Mark told me if he was being executed tomorrow, this would be his last meal! That's sayin' alot!

Sunny Point’s Huevos Rancheros: Savory black bean cakes served with Snow Creek chorizo sausage, feta cheese, roasted tomatillo salsa and herb-tossed red skin spuds topped with two free range eggs, cilantro crema and crispy tortilla strips. Mmm…

Since everything in Asheville is so organic, we wanted to try the ice cream too.

Great way to cool down on a hot day.

Learning how to cook tomato and vidalia onion gratin. We will miss the food here.
