Asheville, NC

Our main reason for visiting Asheville, NC was to see the Biltmore house. Built by George Vanderbilt in the late 1800's this mansion was pretty spectacular!

This was an 8,000 acre estate, 250 rooms, and 75 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

No pictures allowed inside the mansion but just imagine.... elevators, running water, working electricity, 43 bathrooms at a time when most homes did not even have an indoor bathroom, bowling alley, indoor swimming pool, and the list goes on. So much to see and do we got a 2 day pass.
